Deploying Algo IP Paging Adapters in Full IP Environments

Algo paging adapters have a host of features enabling organizations to customize voice paging environments. As third-party SIP devices, Algo IP Paging Adapters can seamlessly integrate into most leading UC, Collaboration, and Mass Notification systems.  

Algo offers several paging adapters for voice paging solutions. The 8301 IP Paging Adapter is the most ideal for full IP paging environments. 

With a vast feature set, organizations may deploy the 8301 for a number of applications. While commonly used for voice paging, paging adapters apply to emergency alert and loud ringing systems, making Algo paging adapters versatile devices. 

Using Paging Adapters as Multicast Transmitters 

Algo IP Endpoints are multicast capable. This is true of the 8301. The 8301 IP Paging Adapter is configured as both the multicast sender and receiver. Upon receiving a SIP call, the 8301 initiates a multicast stream. This stream will activate other IP endpoints, including IP speakers, visual alerters, and visual displays.  

When a multicast is called, the 8301 triggers the devices configured to the stream to play an activity. Speakers will play an audio tone or recording, visual alerters will flash, and visual displays will show a message on the LCD screen. 

Many organizations that deploy Algo’s paging adapters use the 8301 for most of the multicasting on the premise. Users can safely store the 8301 in a locked office or server room to prevent tampering. This keeps the system and network safe and ensures communication operations run smoothly. 

Any number or combination of Algo devices can register as part of a multicast stream. This provides organizations with flexible deployment options to customize their IP paging audio systems. Multicast provides cost-effective scalability and enables organizations to use a minimum of SIP-registered endpoints. Only the endpoints designated as multicast senders require registration. 

Scheduling with the 8301 IP Paging Adapter 

The 8301 features an embedded scheduler. This feature enables organizations to automate the playing of bells, tones, announcements, and even music. Organizations can upload WAV files to the 8301, which accommodates up to 1 GB of space.  

The 8301, as well as several other Algo endpoints, synchronizes to Network Time Protocol (NTP). Organizations can use the 8301 to schedule announcements to accurately play at the correct time based on specific regions.

Scheduling is commonly used across many verticals:  

Education 

In schools and universities, office administrative staff can schedule bells to play to indicate the start and end of school. Admin staff can also upload pre-recorded announcements to notify teachers and students of upcoming Pro-D days, holidays, or events. The 8301 also supports music files. K-12 schools can schedule the anthem to play at the start of assemblies.  

Retail 

In retail, stores, and businesses can use the 8301 to schedule announcements for various updates, such as daily deals or holiday sales. Stores may also choose to schedule a pre-recorded notification to make visitors aware of upcoming store hours, store closures, or to give a warning before stores close for the day. 

Healthcare 

In hospitals and clinics, staff may schedule various reminders to be played over the paging audio system. During the fall and winter, staff may schedule reminders to visitors about updates on hours or to get the flu shot. 

Manufacturing 

In manufacturing facilities, workers deploy Algo paging adapters to play a tone for shift changes and breaks.  

Transportation

In bus stations, train terminals, airports, and other transportation, staff may upload a slew of pre-recorded announcements. Announcements could include departure and arrival times, and updates on closures and construction.

While often used to schedule audio files, the calendaring of 8301 also schedules visual notification devices, such as IP Visual Alerters and IP Displays. Users can create an activity in the scheduler to initiate a flash pattern activity through visual alerters or to display a message on display speakers.
