The Algo 8138 Color Visual Alerter is a powerful IP LED strobe light used to bring visual awareness to your audience. Used for notifications, announcements, and alerts, Algo’s IP strobe lights are deployed in situations where it is imperative that people be alerted of a critical event, whether it be an emergency, bell or phone ring, or key notification. Some examples of how Algo IP strobe lights may be used are described below.
LEDs bring effective visual awareness when audio alerting is not possible or may not be sufficient on its own. Visual alerters are a great alternative or addition for when noise, sound sensitivity, or hearing impairment are an issue. The 8138 can be installed anywhere on a wall or ceiling in a warehouse or office to ensure its attention-grabbing lights reach every corner.
Typically, visual communication tools complement audio paging, adding the incremental communication when audible alerting cannot be heard clearly or effectively. The Algo 8138 Color Visual Alerter is SIP compliant and multicast-capable with four color LEDs to allow for alerting in amber, blue, green, and red. PoE powered, this IP strobe light is ideally used for announcing a telephone ring, notifying when a page is about to be made, or alerting of a critical event.
Using Algo’s 8138 for Full Customizability and Flexibility

Algo’s strobe light also includes a steady-state (or solid) color option that can be adjusted at low intensity to accommodate those who may be sensitive to light.
Different flash patterns or colors used could indicate various levels of safety, such as:
- Flashing Red could indicate heavy machinery in use, don’t proceed further.
- Flashing Yellow could indicate that there is movement and you should proceed with caution.
- Steady-state Green could indicate an all clear.
Security Strobe Lights for Notifications, Alerts, & Safety
Strobes can be used in tandem with other Algo devices, such as IP speakers or IP paging adapters, or they can be used on their own to address communication needs depending on the environment.
A common example may be a warehouse where the noise of heavy machinery may drown the sound of audio alerts from a speaker or the ringing of a telephone. Any flash pattern from the Algo 8138 can be used to get the attention of a worker and make them aware of notifications that need their response.
The 8138 is often used as an emergency indicator to ensure safety and security in emergency events. Sound is often inaudible when protective headphones, earplugs, or other ear protection is used, or when noise from heavy machinery or traffic is too overpowering. In such situations, a worker is more likely to notice the flash pattern from the Algo 8138 from the corner of their eye than hear a message from an audio announcement.
